November 10 - Sandspit Holiday Park
We left Waipu Cove for Sandspit and spent one night. A pretty cool holiday park. It was originally a town site from the 1920s. We stayed in the original Post Office.
The camp part got started back in the day when the school kids had to paddle canoes across the harbor to the schoolhouse. On days when the weather was too bad for them to go back, they had to stay over.
This is the original schoolmaster's house. The young couple who own the place now live there.
Nothing exciting or particularly funny happened except the duck invasion. I made the mistake of feeding one duck, and he called all his homies. In the end I had to chase them away with a broom...at least three times. It's not that I don't like ducks, I do (especially in the oven) but they were crapping all over the porch.
