November 18, Ferry to the South Island

The ferry from the North Island to the South Island leaves from Wellington and lands at Picton on the South Island. The ride is three hours long. The weather was perfect, and the crossing could not have been smoother. We were really glad. The wind really blows at Wellington and the day before the winds were gusting to 60. Other than spectacular scenery, there is not much that happens on the ferry. This one was smaller than the one we took last time. This one only had one cinema, and no decent restaurants.
