November 21, Hokitika

We arrived into Hokitika that afternoon and found a great little place just on the beach in which to weather the storm. Unfortunately it was only available for the one night...

... so we walked next door and booked a place for the second night. Not quite as nice. I took a video. If you took a pop can and placed it on its side on the floor and let go, it would roll all the way across the room. I needed to make sure that I didn’t have too much to drink that night because (seriously) I was concerned about falling down on my way to the bathroom in the middle of the night. It had to have sloped no less than 4” in 15 feet. The owners were very nice though.

Ok, before you start saying "Oh, look at the old people with the matching outfits. Isn't that CUTE?" they were 50% off at REI. My cheapness outweighs my fashion concerns. If I was a woman I would be called a savvy shopper, or a frugalista.

Brown trout and a little noodles, um I mean pasta, that's the yuppie word, right, pasta?

It was raining so hard this poor little guy just sat under the car and cried for mom

I've found that most places we've stayed came with a dishwasher
