Backcountry Accomodations

Just a quick one today. We just got back from our first camp out. Here in NZ there are what they call "Great Walks" and "Tramping tracks". Many of these routes have what are called "huts". Huts are an important part of the New Zealand backcountry (outdoor) experience. The Department of Conservation (DOC) manages a network of over 950 backcountry huts in conservation areas nationwide. Huts provide unique places to stay, refuge from bad weather and a place to rest and recover when you are out exploring the many parks and reserves.

Many are pretty rough looking from the outside:



But are quite comfortable inside:
