T minus 10 seconds and counting...
We've been putting off going up in the Sky Tower since we got here, waiting for a day when we could count on the weather being nice all day. We loaded the camera with fresh batteries in the room, paid our $60, and up we went. You pay extra to go to the tippy-top. It takes two elevators.
It was a beautiful day. We fired up the camera and it said "Change the Batteries". That's the last time I pay $1.97 NZD for a 10-pack! They were Eveready, so you would expect them to be worth the money.
Well the Elevator Nazis were very understanding and let us go down and across the street to buy batteries, and come back up for free. It did take them radio communications with three different people and written consent from the Manager. See below:

A thrill a minute....
You'd think 7000 miles would be far enough....
Adventure Sports
Everyone here seems to be into "Adventure Sports". You know, bungy jumping, river rafting, jet boat rides...etc. For me, the price of gasoline here (petrol) gets my heart going enough. At the Sky Tower the Darwin Club drop-outs jump off the top (sort of). There is a cable system that they strap into which drops them in a free fall all the way down, then jerks them to a stop right at the bottom. Even Studly Demeanor makes some kind of sound of displeasure just before the jerk. They're thinking "Is this thing working??"
They pitch 'em off the top then stop 'em right level with the observation deck so that we can all see the urine trail:
Bombs away!
They even had Muslim women going over in their regulation head gear. What can I say, I'm a wimp. I wanted to say "woos", but the spelling doesn't look right.
